Pham’s project takes an original look at historical photographs, to explore the under-documented fashion history of women of color in the United States. The site is a potent mix of photography, history and fashion, with intelligent commentary. Some of the photographs are by greats like Dorothea Lange (an estimated one third of her FSA photographs were of people of color, but these images were rarely published and sometimes censored). Others, like the one above, are just as compelling - family photographs.
