You’ve probably never heard of Cushman’s work because he was a life-long amateur whose archive was discovered decades later. This NPR web slideshow with commentary gives a good introduction. But, if you have a bit of free time, click-through to the archive, pick a subject or place and dig around a little. Wonder what your city looked like in Kodachrome in the 1950s? I’ve been looking for years and have found a few gems - what’s incredible about it is, people I follow on tumblr have dug through and found different wonderful shots.
