Ezra Caldwell, 2010
A custom bicycle designer, Caldwell has been documenting his experience with cancer for two years with a series of self-portraits and blog posts.
The photographs are a document of dignity persisting through humiliation. There are poisonous chemicals and the removal of useful pieces of his flesh. Afterwards, a photograph. The human ineffable: a small, tired smile.
